Board game / 2019

Hilo is a game derived from the work of the American artist Adrian Esparza. In his artworks, he hammers lines of nails on walls, connected with the thread of “serape”, à Mexican garment, to obtain coloured works with a geometric look.

Hilo enables to reproduce the artist's protocol. To avoid making the process totally random, the player follows instructions that bring him to the creation of a unique work. Hilo is midway between a game and a conditional design. As the game goes on, the player fills a sheet that will give him the “code” related to his artwork.
